Job Title: Estimator

Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Industry: Structural Steel Fabrication and Erection

Core Function:

To be responsible for estimating project costs using customer-provided documents and drawings. This role involves ensuring accurate material, labor, and vendor cost estimations to meet project scope requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Perform lump sum “takeoff” of material, labor, and vendor costs using design drawings and specifications.
• Communicate with General Contractors to clarify project requirements and timelines.
• Request and manage vendor quotes for materials and services.
• Review project specifications to ensure full scope coverage in estimates.
• Provide the estimating manager with detailed Scope of Work, inclusions/exclusions, and qualifications for proposal submission.
• Track bid progress and follow up with contractors on bid awards.

Requirements:

• High School diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years experience in the steel fabrication industry
• Ability to read and interpret structural/architectural drawings
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, and experience with Blue Beam and On-Screen Takeoff
• Knowledge of AISC practices, construction standards, and procedures from award to closeout
