What To Expect
Consider before submitting an application: This position is expected to start around September 2025 and continue through the Fall term (approximately December 2025) or into Spring 2026 if available and there is an opportunity to do so. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About The Team
Prototypes are easy, manufacturing is hard. Manufacturing software is one of the most critical and innovative areas to work in at Tesla. We continuously rethink and improve how manufacturing processes are performed in a pragmatic & efficient way. The Factory Software team is responsible for building infrastructure solutions that allow the company to redefine manufacturing and production. Our stack is built on top of Kubernetes, Kafka, React, Go, and other related platforms. We’re looking for an experienced Software Developer Intern to join our fast-paced and collaborative environment. An ideal candidate is technically curious and excited about making an impact to one of Tesla’s core businesses.
What You'll Do Interface with controls engineers and operators to build the most effective automation systems and solutions. This includes getting immersed in defining and implementing automation system processes flowsRespond to and handle manufacturing process change requests promptly Build tools, test-automation, and documentationInspect and analyze various network protocols deployed in automation systemsImplement, deploy, maintain, and quickly adjust automation backend applicationsDefine an architecture for fault-tolerant, distributed, and adaptive automation applications
What You'll Bring Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field with a graduation date between Dec 2025- Dec 2026Able to relocate and work onsite in Fremont, CAProficiency in Go, TCP/IP, Networking Programming, and related technologiesKnowledge of distributed computing and data storage systemsDemonstrated experience with building solid, testable, and maintainable clean codeProficiency working in a high-impact, responsive, and collaborative team environment - Smart but humble, with a bias for actionExperience with front-end browser app developmentGolang, Python, Kubernetes, and general UNIX admin proficiencyUnderstanding of queues and stream processing

Expected Compensation
$40.00 - $56.00/hour + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
