Associate University Chaplain for the Protestant Community Brown University Associate University Chaplain for the Protestant Community at Brown University Visit this link to apply or for more details: The Associate Chaplain of the University for the Protestant Community is a colleague on a multi-faith professional team. Together the Chaplains oversee program and pastoral care appropriate to the religious and spiritual needs of the entire University community—faculty, staff, students and alumni. The Associate Protestant Chaplain is responsible for and provides specific expertise and program oversight for Brown’s several Protestant communities of practice, including: student religious organizations; a regular program of worship; music--especially Harmonizing Grace Gospel Choir; and regular offering of study and devotion. The Associate Chaplain for the Protestant Community is a credentialed leader and demonstrates nuanced understanding of the broad cultural reach of American Protestantism including Black, Hispanic, Asian, Pentecostal and the larger mainline denominational Traditions. *Note: Protestant is used inclusively to indicate the broad diversity of post-Reformation Christian traditions. Job Qualifications: Graduate degree and minimum of three years’ experience required, including some at an institution of higher education; advanced degree or preparation preferred. Ordination required. Leadership experience in Protestant communities, with experience in minoritized expressions of Protestantism including the Black Church traditions preferred. Experience with interfaith/multi-faith initiatives desirable. Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse, inclusive and creative University community including students, faculty, staff and alumni/ae. Collaborative working style is critical. Demonstrated commitment and success working in a multicultural environment with a critical understanding of social justice issues in both student and workplace settings. Possesses a nuanced understanding, willingness and capacity to support a diverse and inclusive campus community. Demonstrated administrative capacities, including timeliness, creative problem solving, initiative, organizational skills, program planning, and ability to understand and adapt to rapidly emerging institutional contexts and priorities. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. An aptitude for utilizing technology strongly preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule, as needed.
